Benefits of Hydroseeding
when comparing sodding to Hydro-Seeding: a Hydro-Seeded yard starts
growing from the root first allowing the root system to go deep in the
ground where moisture is at it's greatest, making a very drought
tolerant lawn. Solid sod is already established and it is forced to grow
leaf stock while trying to establish a root system, making a solid
sodded yard very weak in drought type condition. In comparison to dry seeding, Hydro-seeding
has a moisture retaining mulch that allows the undisturbed seed to
germinate and root quickly. A
dry seeded yard will have considerably less grass growth than a
Hydro-Seeded yard.

A
Hydroseeded Lawn is much better then a solid sodded
lawn because solid sod is already established and
it is forced to grow leaf stock while trying to
establish a root system, making a solid sodded
yard very weak in drought type condition.

Hydroseeding
or
Hydromulching is a grass planting process that has been used on
everything from highways, to residential lawns; the process is fast,
simple, economical, and efficient.
Most contractors charge 7 to 15 cents per square foot to apply
depending on your location. Depending on watering or rainfall
frequencies a properly Hydro-seeded yard should have results in as
little as three days, and should be fully established in three weeks or
less.

|
The process
The Hydro-seeding process starts by mixing cellulose fiber mulch, grass
seed, water in the tank to be pumped and mixed by the machine.
Once the mixture is fully blended it is then sprayed on the
ground. The sprayed mixture
on the ground is referred to as a blanket or a mat, the material in the
mat enhances the seed geminating process and will stimulate the seeds to
grow a healthy and deep root system and a even pattern of leaf stock.

|
Wood mulch vs. paper mulch: When
100% paper fiber mulch is used it often creates a paper mashie effect
that smothers the seed and doesn’t allow air to reach the seed.
Wood mulch allows the seed to breath and allows more
photosynthesis to reach the seedling, wood mulch also has a better water
holding capacity than paper, wood fiber mulch can absorb 1 gallon of
water per pound of mulch, and this is a very crucial part of the moisture retention
process. Wood or Paper fiber mulch will reduce moisture evaporation from
the soil. Without moisture
grass seed cannot germinate and will not grow. We recommend a 70/30
blend, 70% wood and 30% paper fiber. Our mixture of 50 to 70 pounds of
mulch per 100 gallons of water gives you great results.

To
determine the cost of Hydroseeding your lawn;
measure length by width, and then multiply. |
For example if
your lawn is 50' long by 100' wide you would have 5,000 square feet. |
Bermuda grass is 13 cents per square foot, multiply 5000 x .15 =
$750.00 |
